SMIC Sampling 90nm Chips in 2005

The Chinese semiconductor company SMIC plans to produce prototype 90nm chips at the end of 2005. Currently, SMIC is developing a 65nm chip, which is projected to go into mass production in 2007. SMIC also expressed interest in setting up an alliance for microelectronics research and a national microelectronics R&D center.
